The receiver missed the delivery, how can I rearrange delivery?

If your receiver misses a delivery, many of our delivery partners will leave a card to facilitate re-arranging delivery. Find out more about that here.

If your receiver is not in for all delivery attempts, the parcel may be returned to the sender.

Depending on who your courier is, they may make several attempts at delivery:

DHL

  • Domestic shipments: Two attempts a delivery made, with a card left each time.
    • Then if these both fail then the shipment is held at the depot for three days and the receiver would then have to re-arrange for a final attempt
  • International shipments: number of attempts depends on the country -- you can find these on the service guide for each country

FedEx

  • Residential addresses: One attempt to deliver. If failed, a card will be left so delivery can be re-arranged.
  • Business addresses: Three attempts at delivery. A card will be left each time.
  • After failed attempts, the shipment is held for 5 days if you don’t get in touch. Then it is returned to the sender.

UPS

For both international and domestic shipments:

  • Residential addresses: Three attempts made at delivery. A card will be left each time.
    • After the third failed attempt, the parcel will be delivered to a UPS Access Point™ if possible.
  • Business addresses: Three attempts made at delivery. The parcel will not be left at a UPS Access Point™.

DPD

For domestic shipments:

  • Residential addresses: Two attempts made at delivery. A card will be left each time.
    • After the second failed attempt, the package will be delivered to a pick-up shop for collection if possible.
  • Business addresses: Two attempts made at delivery, with a card left on each attempt. The parcel will not be left at a pick-up shop.

For international shipments, the number of attempts made depends on the destination country. For more information, visit our DPD page.

TNT

For domestic shipments:

  • Residential addresses: Two attempts made at delivery, with a card left on each attempt
  • Business addresses: Three attempts made at delivery. A card will be left each time.

For international shipments:

  • Residential addresses: Three attempts made at delivery, with a card left on the first attempt. Sometimes your parcel will be held after the first attempt, while TNT attempts to contact the receiver.
  • Business addresses: Three attempts will be made, then the package will be held for three days before being returned to the sender. A card will not be left.

Hermes

For domestic shipments:

  • Residential addresses: Three delivery attempts. A card will be left after each attempt.
  • Business addresses: Three delivery attempts, with a card left on each attempt.

For International deliveries, the number of attempts depends on the destination country. However, a card will be left on each attempt.
